Flipgrid can be used by educators and students throughout the world regardless of age. Below are some requirements to follow when using Flipgrid.
Students don’t create accounts. They simply join a Discussion using their email address or student username.
Students of any age can participate in Flipgrid.
- To ensure the safety of all students, follow Flipgrid’s Do’s and Don’ts and collect parent consent forms, if needed.
- Student laws also allow schools to provide consent as long as the "tool is used solely for an educational purpose." https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/complying-coppa-frequently-asked-questions#Schools. Flipgrid only uses your data for educational purposes.

Public Discussions without passwords can be viewed by anyone with the Join Code. For additional privacy, we recommend using the School Email or Student ID Grid types. If using a public Discussion, Flipgrid requires participants be 16+ years old or have parental permission to participate in public Discussions.
Educators control the student content posted to their Discussions. Flipgrid will never advertise to students or share information with 3rd party marketers. At any time, educators can edit, download, and permanently delete student content. Learn more about privacy, COPPA, FERPA, GDPR, and other legal questions at legal.flipgrid.com.
