Members : Using the Flipgrid app

If you have a school email address, your lead should have given you one of the following:

How can I find my Flipgrid assignment?

  1. Use your join information to find the right assignment.
    • [Join Link]
    • [Join Code]
    • Mobile only : [QR Code] Scan the QR code with your device camera or Flipgrid mobile app.
  2. Sign in securely.
    • If you have a school email address, choose Google or Microsoft to sign in securely.
    • If you don’t have a school email address, you’ll see a prompt to log in, enter a username, or a password. If your username or password is not working, be sure to double-check the case and space sensitivity.
  3. You’ve found your Flipgrid assignment. You’re ready to record and submit!


How can I record and submit my Flipgrid assignment? 

The Flipgrid camera offers a lot of fun and creative ways for you to share your ideas and voice! Check out all the features here, learn how to import a custom video , or how to include a screen recording.  

In your Flipgrid Assignment, you’ll see your lead’s discussion prompt.

  1. Read your assignment carefully. Check the maximum video response length set by your lead.
  2. Select Add Response. You’ll need to allow Flipgrid access to your camera and mic to continue.
  3. Before you record:
    • Your lead’s assignment details are at the top of the screen. You can also write notes for yourself. Only you’ll see these notes, they won’t be shown in your video or shared with your lead.
  4. To record your response select the mceclip0.png
    • You can add or change any of the effects while you are recording.
      To delete and start over select retake on the bottom left. You can retake as many times as you need to. Your videos won’t be saved until you are ready to submit. 
  5. When you’re finished recording your video, select Next in the bottom right.
  6. To submit your response:
    • When you’re finished editing your video, select Next in the bottom right.
    • Edit your cover image. You can choose a frame from your video, take a selfie, upload a video or add a nametag.
    • Select Submit.
  7. Your video has been shared with your lead. Your Lead may need to approve it before it can be shared with the Group.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m not sure if my school email is hosted by Google or Microsoft.

Your email address may be hosted by Google or Microsoft, even if it doesn’t end with or If you’re not sure whether your email address is hosted by Google or Microsoft, try signing into your school email account in another window before creating your account. When you select Sign Up with Google or Sign Up with Microsoft, your email address should appear as option.  

TIP - Choose Google if your school or organization uses Google Classroom, Docs, and Drive. Choose Microsoft if your school or organization uses Word, OneDrive, or Microsoft Teams.

Why can’t I log in with my email address?

Your lead has allowed specific email access to the discussion. Make sure you're logging in with the correct email or send the error message to your Lead for additional help.

Why isn't my Username working?

Usernames are case sensitive. Make sure there are no spaces before or after and double check any capital letters.

Can I delete my video?

Members can delete or hide their videos by going to If you used a Username to create your response, you’ll need to contact your Lead to delete your video.

Can I customize the app settings? In the top right of the app, you will see a triple dot icon. Tap to navigate to Settings.
