How to add a camera filter
Filters change the color, brightness, and quality of your recorded image.
Note: Flipgrid has 2 filters that pixelate your image. You can use this if you want viewers to focus on the audio of your video. Learn more about how to make an audio focused video.
- Open Flipgrid.
- If you have lead capabilities: Go to admin.flipgrid.com.
- If you only have member capabilities: Go to my.flipgrid.com.
- In the top right, click Camera

- At the bottom, click Effects
> Filter
.
- Select the filter you want to use.
- To find all your options: Click the right arrow
or left arrow

- To remove your filter: Click Clear filters
.

How to add backdrops
- Open Flipgrid.

- In the top right, click Camera

- At the bottom, click Backdrop

- Select a Flipgrid backdrop image or create your own.
- To use a Flipgrid backdrop image: To find all your options, click the right arrow
or left arrow
. Then, select the backdrop you want to use.
- To use a photo or video file: Click Use photo or video
. Then, select the photo or video you want to use.
- To use your computer screen or browser tab: Click Use screen as a backdrop
. Then in the “Choose what to share” window, select a screen or browser tab you want to share.
- To share an entire screen: At the top, click Entire Screen. Then in the selection window, select the screen you want to record. In the bottom right, click Share.
- To share a specific app: At the top, click Window. Then in the selection window, select the app window you want to record. In the bottom right, click Share.
- To share a single browser tab: At the top, click either Microsoft Edge tab or Chrome Tab. Then in the selection window, select the tab you want to record. In the bottom right, click Share.
- To blur your background: Click Blur.
- To remove your backdrop: Click Clear backdrop

- To use a Flipgrid backdrop image: To find all your options, click the right arrow
- Open the Flipgrid app.
- At the bottom, tap Camera
.
- At the bottom, tap Effects
> Backdrop
.
- Select a Flipgrid backdrop image or create a backdrop from one of your photos.
- To use a Flipgrid backdrop image: Scroll and select the backdrop you want to use.
- To use a photo: Tap Use photo or video
> tap your camera image. Then, select the photo you want to use.
- To blur your background: Tap Blur.
- To remove your backdrop: Tap Clear backdrop

Note: When you select a backdrop, the backdrop image fills the Record circle at the bottom.
How to move, resize, or rotate yourself in camera
You must first use a backdrop before you're able to adjust the position and size of what your camera records. This is currently only available for Flipgrid on the web.
- Open Flipgrid.
- If you have lead capabilities: Go to admin.flipgrid.com.
- If you only have member capabilities: Go to my.flipgrid.com.
- In the top right, click Camera
.
- At the bottom, click Effects
> Backdrop
.
- Select a Flipgrid backdrop image or create your own.
- A blue box shows up around the image your camera records. Adjust the camera image of yourself.
- Use preset adjustments: In the bottom next to "Backdrop," to shrink your image and put it in the bottom left or right of the camera, click Move left or Move right.
- Move your image: Inside the blue box, click and drag the image.
- Resize your image: At the corners of the blue box, select a circle and drag it.
- Rotate your image: At the top of the blue box, click and drag the circle.
- Return to your image’s default size and position: In the bottom next to "Backdrop," click Move center.
Note: During recording, you’re able to move the camera image but you not resize or rotate it.
How to add a frame
You’re able add a themed frame to the foreground of your camera image.
Note: You’re able to add a frame and backdrop at the same time. Choose a backdrop and frame of similar themes to make your video stand out.
