Camera: How to add backdrops to your videos and selfies

Reduce the time and energy it takes to be video-ready. You can record whenever and wherever without needing to find a perfect environment by using backdrops. With backdrops, you have more freedom on what you would like to share and you can focus viewer's attention on what you're saying and doing, not what is happening behind you!

How to add backdrops

Web Browser Mobile App

1. Select Record a Response.

2. Select the mceclip1.png   Backdrop icon.

3. Select the backdrop that works best for you! The backdrop you choose will be highlighted in white.

Note: 
  • Currently, uploading photos or videos as a backdrop, using screen share as a backdrop, or specifying your position on your backdrop are only available on desktop.  
  • You can't add a lens and backdrop at the same time 
  • The following devices will be unable to support these effects: iPhone 5, iPhone 6, iPad Air, and iPad Mini 2.  

 

How to add custom backdrops from the web browser

1. Select Record a Response.

2. Select the mceclip1.png Backdrop icon.

3. Select the mceclip3.pngicon. 

3. Choose the file that you want to use as your backdrop.

 

How to share your screen as a backdrop from the web browser

1. Select Record a Response.

2. Select the mceclip1.png Backdrop icon.

3. Select the mceclip4.pngicon. 

3. Choose the screen that you want to use as our backdrop.

 

How to select your position on screen from the web browser

  1. Select Record a Response
  2. Select the mceclip2.png  Backdrop icon 
  3. Select any backdrop  
  4. By default, your position is in the middle of the screen.

  5. Select blobid1.png to place yourself on the bottom left of the screen, and blobid2.png to place yourself on the bottom right of the screen. 

 

How to resize, rotate, and reposition yourself on screen from the web browser

1. Select Record a Response

2. Select mceclip2.png Backdrop

3. Add any type of backdrop 

4. By default, your position is in the middle of the screen.

5. You will see a border appear on the edges of your video. Select any corner to minimize yourself on screen. Then, you will see a tool to rotate yourself.  blobid3.png
When not recording, you can resize, rotate, and reposition yourself on screen. When recording, you can only reposition yourself. Pause the recording to resize and rotate yourself.  

Note:

  • Backdrops are available on the latest two versions of Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. Backdrops are not available on Safari.
