Update your Account to Sign In

Have you been using the prompt below to sign in to Flipgrid? Great news! You no longer need to remember or manage a separate password for Flipgrid, and instead, you can use your same Google or Microsoft account that you use to access your email or documents.

Also, you might have noticed that you can only use a Google or Microsoft option to sign into the mobile app, so these steps will help you move your current account to a sign in with your Google or Microsoft account.

Step 1.

Identify which Google or Microsoft account (email and password) you would like to use to sign in and have all your Groups, Topics, videos and more available under that account.

If you use...

You have a...
OneDrive, Outlook, Teams, Word Microsoft account
Google Classroom, Docs, Drive, Gmail Google account

If you're going to use Flipgrid for your school or organization, use the email provided by the institution.

Hint: If you're not sure whether your email is hosted by Microsoft or Google, try logging in to your email in another web browser tab before proceeding to Scenario 1. Then, head back to the Flipgrid web tab, and try to Sign In with Microsoft on Flipgrid.  If your email is listed as an option, then Microsoft hosts your account and you should always Sign In with Microsoft.  If your email is not listed as an option, then try to Sign In with Google on Flipgrid.  If you're email is listed as an option, then Google hosts your account and you should always Sign in with Google.

Step 2.

Now that you have identified which Google or Microsoft account you want to use to sign in to Flipgrid, it's time to update your current Flipgrid account. One of the below two scenarios will work for you.

Scenario 1:

If your current Flipgrid email matches the email you use to sign into Google or Microsoft, then do the following:

  1. Accesshttp://admin.flipgrid.com/ on a web browser.
  2. Select Microsoft or Google, based on your account

  1. Enter your identified Microsoft or Google email (or phone) and password and login.

You are all set! and no longer need to manage a separate password for Flipgrid and simply select Microsoft / Google at Sign In.  Now, all your Groups, Topics, videos, and more are available when you sign in to Flipgrid using your Google or Microsoft account.

Scenario 2:

If you’d like to sign in with a Microsoft or Google account that does not match the email address you currently use with Flipgrid sign in, then do the following:

  1. Log into your Lead Dashboard at admin.flipgrid.com
  2. Select your profile in the top right corner or by going directly to https://admin.flipgrid.com/manage/profile
  3. Select the Account Settings tab, and scroll down to Email to change your email.

Once you request the email to be updated, this change will need to be confirmed, so please look for that email confirmation in your inbox or that pesky spam folder.

On confirmation - You are all set! and no longer need to manage a separate password for Flipgrid and simply select Microsoft / Google at Sign In.  Now, all your Groups, Topics, videos, and more are available when you sign in to Flipgrid using your Google or Microsoft account.
